Body Sugaring or Waxing Aftercare

Body Sugaring or Waxing Aftercare

Refrain from hot showers, hot baths, exercise, saunas, hot tubs, tanning, oils applied to the skin or alcohol for at least 6-24 hours after treatment. Your pores are open and you don’t want to cause anything that will create bacteria or cause excessive heating or inflammation of the skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is important to remove dead skin cells for the prevention of ingrown hairs. Start a week or so after treatment, and every other day after that until the hairs have all popped through the surface, it is advisable to exfoliate with a good quality exfoliator made from natural animal hair. There are other cheaper versions on the market which will do but for problem skin that is susceptible it is best to use the former. To be effective, an exfoliator must be dry and used on dry skin. Exfoliation needs to be performed before your morning shower. You want to leave 24 hours between the last shower and your exfoliation.

Do not stop exfoliating once the hairs have started growing in, as this is the most vulnerable time. Also, using a good quality moisturizer daily on your skin will make a huge difference in the amount of dead cells your skin produces. A very good product line for men is the Jason brand. Most all moisturizers in this line are good, but most men prefer the Wheat germ oil and Vit E bend as it has no scent and is not at all greasy. Some prefer the Aloe Vera blend tooas the scent is very light.

Pimples, Blemishes & Skin Reactions

For those of European descent, it is not uncommon for some to observe a condition that looks similar to a heat rash after epilation (especially gingers). This should go away on its own in a few hours with Body Sugar and a couple of days after wax. If this is observed during treatment, some medicated cream may be applied for the client as a complimentary service. If any kind of rash is present beyond 24 hours (highly unusual) Nikki recommends Polysporin cream (not ointment) and if it is persistent or inflamed, add a small amount of Cortisone cream in the mix in a 3:1 ratio. Also recommended would be some Clotriamazole cream (anti-fungal/anti-yeast) as well if treating the underwear or underarm area. (use about half the amount to Polysporin) Any or all of these creams may all be mixed with moisturizing cream which makes it go further. If any skin eruptions persists for more than 2-3 days after treatment, please contact Nikki for further advice.
